Are You A PUA?

Postby Guest » Fri Jul 04, 2008 2:24 pm

I was inspired to write this because there seems to be a mass hypnosis a foot. Everyone on here and other places defines themselves as a PUA.

By the way, I don't define myself as a PUA. I found a more apt description as "I'm a guy doing what guys do." That's it.

Its easy and it doesn't define my identity as a "pickup artist", which I refuse to do because that's how the Chinese Communists did mind control experiments on American P.O.W.s during Viet Nam.

Identity level change is possible with people by slowly altering the perception they have of themselves.

If you define someone as something, all their actions and beliefs spring from that definition.

I'm not saying the tactics, strategies, routines, patterns, etc. are not worth doing. I'm saying the definition of how we define ourselves is important.

Think of all the people who define themselves as Jihadists. What do Jihadists do? They fight the Jihad. The enemies include Israel, the United States, England, most European Countries and anyone who collaborates with the West.

If you define yourself as a Pick Up Artist, you are limited by that definition and all your strategies, behaviors, ideas and programming will be geered in that direction.

Is it a good thing?

Well, perhaps. What if you're not good at picking up? Then what do you do? You have to define yourself as a failure.
Which is really dumb when looking at your life, you are really a success in other areas.

And what if you are that good? What if you're a pimp? Is that all you are? Is that all you can do?

This sort of thinking is really manipulative.

They tried to do this to me at my Mystery Method Bootcamp. They actually had the balls to call it "Identity".
And then Matador proceeded to tell me a cold read "Yeah I see you as a strip club owner...a man of power...a guy who gets laid and gives orders."
A strip club owner was his cold read on me because I am Italian and I look a little like Tony Soprano.

So I wasn't going to let him define who I am as a person.

This sort of psychological brain washing has been used by the C.I.A. as well as by other governments.

Another thing I see as wrong in the community is defining your actions as covert and soemthing you have to hide.
That is really silly.

Your family and your friends and perhaps even coworkers want you to succeed in this area of your life.
And again, defining it as I have done is better. I'm just a guy doing what guys do.
I'm normal. I'm well adjusted. And I don't have to hide.

If you hide stuff from people, they eventually find out. Why not open up. I told my parents "I'm doing this because I need to change my life. I want to be better with women and I have seen some positive changes."

Also don't buy into the mass-hypnosis of the crowds. Everyone is doing X. This is social proof being used against you.

Today is Independence Day.

Why not DECLARE your independence from Internet Marketers. Those used car salesmen of the internet.

Define yourself as successful and you will be.

That's all for now.

Very clever...but I'm right, and I don't care if you agree.

I don't think most people can call themselves PUAs. It's a name we throw around without regard to whether or not someone has earned the moniker. I don't consider myself a PUA and your point regarding doing whatever it is that guys do is validate to a point. Fact is most guys don't do what we do, therefore we are special from just 'guys.' We aren't just 'guys,' but PUA isn't necessarily something I'd say many have earned. So, if we aren't PUAs or 'guys' then what are we?

It's just a nice little label to summarize one aspect of your life...that is "someone that studies the self improvement subject of becoming better with women through various means".

should we not use labels like teacher, laywer, engineer, doctor? no , it's just a description.

It's unhealthy if you define yourself solely around any 1 thing/label, PUA being just one of them.

I think people just label other community guys as PUA because obviously you don't want to refer some one as "someone that studies the self improvement sbject of becoming better with women through various means."

Hell NO. I ain't gonna say that long ass sentence to call somebody or refer to somebody. I would normally use "fellow PUAs" or "fellow students"

I don't think defining each other as PUA among us not necessarily because they/we earned them. It's because we don't have other words or label we can call each other just like bull run said. (plus, PUA is much shorter to wrtie/refer to someone else here)

No, TopDog has it right. And, I suspect that Trib was angling towards the same thing. If you define yourself as a PUA, then you are lacking in all other areas. And, by definition you aren't a PUA.

It's an add on, something that accentuates your life...it's not a lifestyle, it's a supplement.

The way I look at it is a simple label to signify a guy who focuses time an energy to learn how to do what we are basically born to do...interact with the female of the species. We take the time to learn how they work, what they respond to, and what makes a man a man. The PUA moniker signifies someone who doesn't want to just float by and "get lucky" but one who takes the initiative and makes it happen for himself. We are those who want to control our sexual and social destiny. We are those who are driven by personal success in all aspects of life. Like BR said, that makes us different than just 'guys.' I think the PUA label can be used regardless of skill level...as long as the intent/drive is there.

It is really nothing more than the secret decoder ring of our society. Anyone can get one if they WANT it.

Yeah I don't think this is a serious issue anyway.
I don't put that much meaning into the label or word, "PUA." It is just another word for me.

On top of that, even if you label urself as a PUA, u can also label yourself as something else.

For example, if I decide to label myself as PUA because I am a studying PU. It doesn't mean I can't label myself as Swimmer because I swim competitively. I also like to read. I can label myself as a reader. I like to take pictures of environment. I can call myself photographer, even though I am not a professional photographer.
Just like this, "PUA" doesn't have to define you or label you. It could be used to just describe part of who you are.
It all depends how much meaning an individual puts on a word "PUA"
