Pivots

Postby Vector » Thu Aug 09, 2007 5:22 pm

Ok guys, I haven't ever used pivots much, and in the past week I've been attempting to incorporate this into my game. The problem is, I bring along this girl and I feel bad abandoning her, so I'll only game a new set for a few minutes and then I'll go back to my pivot.

Also complicating the situation is that we ride together, which I realize is probably a really dumb idea. Also I am thinking that the fact that I know she's going home with me really weakens my motivation.

I think I need to use girls who are just acquaintances. Perhaps ones I've met earlier that night.

Thoughts? How do I properly use a pivot?

Take two pivots. Then she'll have someone to talk to while you sarge.

A pivot should be like a wing. Someone clued in that is cool with you ditching her to hang with a target. Someone who will DHV you and block the obstacles. If that ain't true she ain't a pivot.

A pawn is a girl you pick up at a club and use to attract higher value targets.

But you know this already. In the situation you are describing, she isn't a pivot. Ya need to meet her at the venue and she has to be social enough to get along without you. You can't worry about her having a good time. You can either be a dick and let her be bored or find a pivot that doesn't need you to have fun but enjoys hanging out with you.

Good pivots are bisexual FBs and LTRs, lesbian friends and former FBs and LTRs that you aren't with anymore but still like to hang with.

Sup Vector,

At least: she should be easy social proof, and a cool acquaintance who is not stressed about (or doesn't know much about) The Game. Also, would be able to enjoy that type of venue even if you weren't present

At most: she could have all the traits of a good wing (knows how to intro you and engage sets, blocks obstacles, etc)

The first traits are given, and I like to give pivots a few directions here and there to make them better at the 'advanced game' stuff they don't know. But I mostly take advantage of the basic stuff - they look cool and hang out with me - I'm preselected and having fun already
