Definition of pick-up

I've been thinking about this because the standard definitions are garbage, and the synthetic def idn't any better.

Def.1--it's all technique.
Def.2--it's all art.
Synthesis--it's both.

Is it a science? Is it an art? Is it a blended practice?

Definition 1 says "rock stars get laid all the time. Tf, there must be a way of presenting oneself such that YOU get laid all the time."

Def 2 says the best seducers have their own pathways. There is no prototypical "rockstar" seducer. Find what's best for you through certain prescribed means and follow that "what's best" to the bedroom.

The synthesis says there's no "rockstar" type, but there are delineated tracks. See: Robert Greene's Art of Seduction. Find the track that's right for you and follow it, and you're golden.

None of these describes "pick-up."

I'm going to give two superior definitions and then my own, which I think is best.

Sup Def 1. Pickup is accelerated romantic relationship initiation. The aim is to do everything that a normal relationship would entail, but at an increased clip. See, the Mystery Method.

Problematically, this leaves no room for the practitioner's preferences. It becomes an exercise in "where did I fuck up"? That kind of thinking is a horrifying stroll through the worst self-conceptions you can self-expose yourself to. Where did you fuck up? Fuck that.

Sup Def 2. Pickup is a failed means. This def says strive and plan and endeavor and find your awesome, and screw any attempt to restrict or prescribe your activities. It's an inflated version of Def 2.

The problem is that it leads to imbalance. It ignores the fact that there are social means, that meeting people where they are is a core component of the social self, and that compromise doesn't have to work to the detriment if the self.

Ahem, uhm, so . . . That's pretty fuzzy, all-in-all.

Here's what I think the way to go is, and I welcome dialogue. In fact, in a week, I'll post this segment as a separate thread, with any responses incorporated.

Well, now that I think about it, I'll go ahead and post my answer separately from go.
