Young professionals and texting

Postby Guest » Wed Feb 24, 2010 11:53 am

I know this is a big generalization. But what is everyone's experience with young professionals (mid 20s to early 30s) and texting? I've noticed the 18-early 20s seem more responsive to texting for attraction and comfort. But the young pros seem to respond to my texts less. But they will answer their phone when I call them. What's your opnion on why this is? I don't know if it's something on my end or theirs.

My experience has been during business hours the "professionals" will be more open to texting and you can get some good response with good text game. After hours they are the ones we are out on dates with or we are running game on at starbucks and such... so they prefer talking on the phone.

My experience has been that it varies from person to person as well as different times during the day.

99.9% of the time it's text. I'm one of those young professionals and I can tell you right now that I never answer my phone.

However, I have run into one girl that waited for me to call her and ask her out before she agreed to go out.

Other than that, people just generally prefer text. It's less intrusive, it's more convienent, and it doesn't require a huge investment.

It might also depend on what phone a person has. I have a smart phone and I don't mind texting. People with Blackberry phones seem to text more than others. On the other hand, people who have a phone that doesn't have a keyboard generally prefer to talk if it's going to be an involved conversation.

I tend to mix it up. I text for a while, especially on the weekends. But on a Monday or Tuesday, I'll text, "I want to talk to you. What's a good time to call?" If she's not busy, she'll say "I can talk now." If she's busy she'll give a time. If she's really busy, she'll ignore it.

I think it's important to get a girl on the phone once in a while, especially when setting up a day2. You don't want to be one of the dozen guys who text her. And texted plans aren't as solid as spoken plans.
