I was thinking about this just a second ago... and instead of popping out my phone and recording myself rambling on, which I normally do, I decided I would let my brain vomit through my typing.
What is your affiliation? Everyone hangs out with groups. Everyone hangs out with at least someone at any given time, and some people do not. Luckily the people who don't hang around anyone else wouldn't even come to this forum.
That being said, what groups are you affiliated with? I'll list a few I have heard people talk about:
The church
PUA Lair
Kickball team
The State Bar Members
District Attorneys
Online matters like Facebook and Myspace
Online Gamers
Weightlifters
Students
Family
Everyone
PUA "Gurus"
Electricians
Plumbers
Engineers
Doctors and Nurses
Army, Marines (insert other military)
UFC watcher
All of these groups have a distinct vibe about them. The vibe is called a stereotype.
When you think Online gamers what do you think of? When you think Student, what do you think of? When you think Lawyer, what do you think of?
Each one has a DIFFERENT mindset. Each one has a different way of dealing with their problems, and each one has a different affiliation.
How does each one of these affiliations act in regards to the world around them? How would an attorney respond to a situation v. a weightlifter or someone in the marines?

Here's some of the groups I hang out with:
Online:
-Dallaslair
-Racecar Technical Forum
-Lake Lewisville/Texoma Party Boaters
Real World:
-Dirt Track Racing Crowd: I'm sure you are thinking its full of Bubba's and Confederate flags! Sorry, but not exactly true. Its a wide cross section of people from poor and wealthy backgrounds. These people don't have a problem telling you what they think and stand for what they believe in. Very loyal group who works hard and plays hard. Diehards, Hardcore, passionate folks. They settle there differences face to face.
-Engineers: Mostly a bunch of nerds. Perhaps 30pct are cool. 90pct male. Intelligent. Lacking social skills. Highly analytical, thinking type.
-Strippers: A wide cross section of people. The girls fall into 3 categories.
Category 1. 18-21yo who was very social in highschool and always at the center of attention. Doesn't understand you just don't walk up to a guy and ask him if he wants a lap dance. She always got what she wanted before with little effort and still thinks that way. Hasn't learned the "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" concept. A lot came from broken families.
Category 2. This is the girl who tells you she is dancing just to make extra money for school and is not lieing through her teeth. These girls don't get drunk at the club, stay in the business for 2years or less, and don't do extras in the back. They are there to make money. They also aren't friends with any of the girls they work with.
Category 3. These are the career strippers! They know about the secret underground and inner workings of the club they work at. They know who the DJ and managers are banging. Always seem to have rockin' bodies with just OK faces. They'll hang out and party with you. The ones that aren't jaded are always lots of fun to party with. The smart ones are leary of most men. They all say they don't date men they meet at clubs...which is a lie! ;-)
Most of the managers in the business are pretty sleazy(drugs, sex, booze, etc). I wouldn't trust any of them. Its something about the "lure of easy money" that attracts those types. They remind me of cockroaches dressed in cheap tuxedos.
Motorcycle Riders-
The sport bike(crotch rocket) sector of riders definitely do as they please. Don't care about Johnny Law. Free spirited outlaws who aren't afraid to push it to the limit. Think "pack mentality".
Farmers & Ranchers-
Hardworking, conservative straight shooters! Family values are important to this group. Easy going and level headed.
I have a question about "lawyers". When I've been out to a few bars with this group, they always come across as conservative and uptight. I see it in the way they dress and conduct themselves. I haven't been around enough to know if this is the general case or not. Whats your opinion?

Interesting observations Howie.
With Lawyers I think it comes from their training. An attorney isnt really supposed to act in certain ways. (there are actually a lot of rules most Bar associations have)
But attorneys are trained to ask lots of questions and not really give any answers (especially if you are the opposing attorney). It's just part of the whole "fully representing the client" thing. It's their schtick. Add to it the aire of high socialness and the fact that they always have to appear to be upholding the law especially while they may, or may not, be allowing someone else to break it.

There are a few "Wild Men" who don't quite fit this category.

I have run into lawyers and law students. I ran into the lawyers in some pretty deep underground situations (drug dealer parties, S&M/B&D parties and so on.) The lawyers tend to be cut loose, crazy and pretty messed up. Law students on the other hand to a person seem to be stuck up pricks. I figure it's the crystal tower vs the real world. Students are stuck up pricks and the lawyers had post school reality smack em in the ass and find out that they are in fact nothing special.
Groups I have hung out with...
speed junkies- tweakers are FUCKED UP... if you want to know how, rent the movie Sultan Sea it's pretty accurate. You can also check out Breaking Bad creepy and pretty accurate too. Especially the episode with the 2 junkies with the little kid.
coke heads- ultimate partiers. fun fun fun till your nose bleeds. Great to hang with if you don't mind the shallow self indulgence (that was me back when.)
stoners. boring, self absorbed, and kind of depressing. Good to sit back and bullshit with though. They are also the most snobby of the drug crowd all natural and all that bullshit.
Drunks, act stupid and completely unaware of what's going on around them will start shit without ever realizing it and will get pissed of when the shit they started comes back and bites them in the ass. (more often than not this is me when I go out for the past decade or so.) also probably the most dangerous to others and themselves.
Role playing/ board gamers, consummate nerds. Usually really nice people with almost 0 female interaction (me in my early college years) Sometimes they are real know it alls (like me right now :D) Real poor self esteem... usually. Live in a fantasy world most of the time.
Club crowds- all the same whether hip hop, goth, rave, retro or whatever (I used to be a bouncer) social and gossips. who slept with who who has what STD who broke up with who. High school all over again.
local bar crowd- same as club crowd only aren't as horse from the yelling and better at playing pool.
Bikers. 3 kinds banker gangs, rice burners and old school riders (never hung out with old school motorcycle clubs so I can't say)
banker gangs-harley logo on everything ultimate posers think they are better because they ride harleys but don't know the first thing about bike maintenance. Dream of being real bikers but end up looking like fashion douches. see wild hogs, both the wild hogs and the "real" biker gang.
Rice burners- the new outlaw bikers. Don't know if they do real crimes like the hells angels but don't give one shit about road law. Freedom baby. they hate banker gangs
Old school riders- "I left that suzuki on the side of the road where it left me" Serious riders. Respected in all motorcycle communities except banker gangs. Probably have more miles on their bikes than you have your cars. They live to ride. They are the guys on the Gold Eings rolling with the old school motorcycle clubs. (someone has to carry the beer) read "Life is a Road, the Soul is a Motorcycle" Hate banker gangs (they're where I learned the term banker gang from.)
Drug dealers- everyones friend- watch 'em
