Dude Im in the same boat you are. Only when I get a chicks number, it may be 3 weeks or so before Im able to see her again in person. So my text game has to pretty decent. Im not good yet but im getting better.
Some things I've learned:
less is more. Try to keep your texts short and positive/funny.
Your having a great time with life. Let her know how bad ass your weekend was and how she should join you next time. keep it short.
Lots of exlamation points! It just makes your texts more exciting to read! like your in a constant state of fun! This doesnt mean end every sentence with one just remember to use them.
Mirror her. As long as it takes for her to respond to your mess is about how long it should take you to get back to her. A bonus to this is it gives you a chance to construct a mess.
Freeze out. Just flat out ignore every 4th or so message from her. Not sure wh this works but it does.
Turn it sexual if you see it fits in natrually. I cant explain this very well. Ask someone else. sry
If you poke fun at her or neg her(keep negs super light) end the sentence with a :P or ;) or somthing like that to show your kidding.
Finesse has some stuff on the boards somewhere. Not sure exactly where but search it down you'll find it. You also may want to send him a pm about this. He's a busy dude but he'll get back to ya eventually.
Also, I asked Lion about this as well, read what he wrote to me. Hope this helps.

I used to have some problems with texting but I have improved through practice as well. I agree with everything Captian Caveman said. My texting style is very natural and I try to use callback humor. For instance, I make sure I know what she does and tease her for it in the first message.
Always put your name at the end of the first message so she knows it is you.
Use emoticons ;) :) and stuff like lol
Beyond this, I think the most important thing is to make sure you played solid game before you got the number. If you qualified well and got deep into comfort, you basically just have to not fuck up. If the number was shakey, then it is an uphill battle.

This is a recent discovery for me, but I'll share. Personally I started having more success getting day 2's out of my #'s when I stopped hiding behind texts and started relying on phone game as my work horse.
What i found was that if I didn't call and only texted, that a lot of times it was harder to get her out because she just didn't feel comfortable enough, and the state would just kind of fizzle. I would have to invite her out with friends etc. which i generally just don't like to do.
I find that for me personally the telephone is a better tool for building value and comfort, and i use text only as an 'in between' these days. That goes for girls of all ages.
That said, I know from previous discussions that there are advanced guys on here who swear by a "text only" strategy. I have no reason to doubt that this works very well for them.
Point of the post is to advise you to keep an open mind. you might want to experiment a little and see what works best for you.

Call her the NEXT DAY. Be like, "Hey, this is Angel, I was just on my way from Cool Place A to Cool Place B and I thought I'd give you a call. Did you get home OK last night?"
After that just vibe on the phone for like 10 minutes about whatever random comfort shit, best is if you have some callback shit you can use, but just DON'T invite her out on the first call. Invite her out on the next call.
DON'T be like most guys "hey this is angel, so I got these two tickets to blah and i was thinking maybe.."
THe other thing you can do is screen her to make sure that she has a couple minutes to talk. Cause if she's doing something else when you call and you try to talk, you come off looking like a tool. Just be like "cool, we'll talk later and try to get off the phone first.
You can call her like every other day for a week or so if you don't catch her.
If you get her machine, you MUST leave a message at least the first time. I just usually say "Hey it's Peter, I'll talk to you later."
