Qualification with Sharing

I'm working on a way to improve qualification by using statements before asking the big open-ended question.

One of my qualifiers is "My friend and I were out last night and we saw this girl with a Bon Jovi t-shirt. So I asked her about the shirt. She said she was not a fan of the band but just liked the way the shirt looked. So what would you say your favorite band is?"

That's a small hoop at the end. Who doesn't like talking about their favorite music?

I think this idea is better than the usual "So...what do you have going for you other than your looks?"

Those out-of-the-blue qualification questions get you weird looks. Let's face it, most people don't talk like that.

I like the idea of "sharing" something and then asking for something in return. Robert Cialdini would term this Reciprocity. And the act of qualifing is an act of Commitment and Consistency.

I'd like to work on some imbedded stuff withing the "sharing" part.
