Promise to myself: At least try sarging sober one time

Postby Alphagame » Sat Jan 12, 2008 8:56 pm

Last night, I went out to the bars, solo sarging, and once again, drank too much.

Ideally, I'd like to drink like two drinks, get a good a buzz, get into a good conversational mood and then start opening mixed and female sets.

The problem is, all too many times, I've ended up getting drunk. Not that women can tell I'm drunk, I doubt they can since they don't know me. But the problem is, I think I'm unable to calibrate properly when I get too drunk. I think I'm fucking up perfectly good opportunities. Being drunk, I can't remember conversations as well. Obviosuly, I'm making critical mistakes as evidenced by my solo arrival at home each night. The problem is, I don't know what my major errors are. The other major problem is, like tonight, for example, I'm too hung over to get into a really upbeat mood and go out sarging solo, so I probably won't even go out. That's a major problem: There are only 4 nights per week when I can even go out sarging (Monday's at Black Finn's, and anywhere on Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's.) The other 3 nights of the week are all target poor nights.

So here I am, desperately in need of pick-up practice/experience, and I'm planning to stay in because I'm so friggin' hung over from last night. My eyes are just blood shot red and my lips are chapped and cracking from dehydration. Not only that, but the Corona's are gonna continue to elude my my six-pack abs and slowly destroy my kidneys. I don't want to even think about a DWI. Never had one, sure as hell don't want one.

Sooooo....that said, I'm publicly making a promise to myself to sarge sober next time out. I may have 2 drinks to get into a more social mood, but thats it. Period. Two drinks and I'm switching to cranberry juice or water or something.

I plan to post what I learn on my first ever sober sarging expedition as an addition to this thread.

As for the other PUA's in the area, I've never actually met a good PUA before. Do the really successful guys actually stay sober when they go out to the bars?

Hah! Not so much. But the ones that are good had to practice when they were sober.

There is no doubt if you cross the line on drinks your game suffers. I know mine does. I kinda made a vow about a month ago to never get too drunk. The night I made that vow I got super drunk and my game just sucked( I can describe it like this...WHAT GAME>>??). I now try to get to the perfect stage. This is where I have an excellent buzz going on but I can maintain everything. In fact I am way better in this stage. My AA pretty much goes away and I open sets like crazy.

Set a drink limit. Say 2 or 3.
Slow your drinking down. Also drink lots of water or soft drinks.

Alot of us had to make this decision.

Last night, Rockstar can confirm this...I had exactly one beer. And I didn't drink all of it.

The freakin calories too! Its not worth it.

I feel your pain man. The other thing I hate is staying out too late. Next day buyers remorse on that!

I do the same thing and I hate it. I hate that I need the drink, the money I waste, the possibility of dui, the hangovers and all of that. The only time I really drink is when I'm trying to meet women....I don't even keep alcohol at my house. It's a total crutch for me...as they say liquid courage. I have a friend who couldn't drink for medical reasons and we used to go to bars and he would pick up a lot more women than me. From my experience the only way I can really limit myself to a few drinks is to only bring enough money for a few drinks. I've also noticed that most of my drinking is done when I'm not talking to women....when I'm just standing around trying to get up the nerve to approach.....and occasionsly after getting rejected i want a drink. This is one of my biggest goals, to be able to approach women sober.

Well, yesterday I met some friends at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the game. I decided my plan was to drink a Corona, then a full glass of water, then a Corona...so on and so forth.

I got there, drank a Corona and then ordered a water. The bartender refilled my water glass, so it was over an hour between the first and second beer. Then I got the proximity IOI, opened a 2 set standing right next to me, cold sober...end result: I F-Closed.

I ended up drinking several beers during the course of the day, but mixed in with lots and lots of water. The hangover was much easier. Honestly, I don't think I was really all that drunk at any point.

There may be something to the sober game after all.

What BWW were you at? If its the Addison one, thanks for saving us a seat. You may have noticed all the female attention in the room going to about 7 guys halfway through the first quarter, before they decided to leave and go to Sherlocks where they could get a seat.

I'm the same way and have a similar pledge. I don't use the booze as a crutch to clear away my AA, I use it more as a way to get me to relax more and go with the flow. I'm very analytical by nature (I get paid to think) and as such I tend to break down social interactions with people far more than is necessary. Booze helps me to short circuit that and just sort of go with the flow, it makes me appear more natural. One of my New Year's resolutions was to cut out the booze while I sarge, I'm taking the slowly wane off the drink approach instead of going cold turkey.

Congrats on your FC!

Getting too drunk can fuck up your game, but at the same time I like to have a few, not because of AA, but because it is a game, and it should be fun, and you should just go with the flow and have a good time while you do it.

(congrats on the f-close, by the way)
