Freestyle Nights

I will be forever grateful to Captain Jack for his input into my "game"- so to speak.
He had a profound influence on alot of us coming from the old Dallas Wingman group.

And he is indeed missed.

I went back through some of his old posts back when I saw the transition from him being ok to being phenomenonal. I was hanging out with him through much of that phase and I can recall alot of what we talked about at the time.

One of the things that was apparent reading his old posts again was his use of what he called "Freestyle" nights.

These are nights where you go out and literally do all free style game with minimal structure and no lines.

With all the publicity surrounding The Game lately; The VH1 show, Style's book, etc. the word is out on alot of the lines. So its actually a good time to use this "Free Style" approach.

I can tell you that there is a consensus among better guys that this is a good "mission" to do. Sinn also talked about this.

Its so easy. You just go out and use some banter and what naturally comes to your mind.

For alot of you, this is not going to work. Why? Because, and I say this with respect, you're just not up to speed on the material so it won't work and you'll come off as you usually come off.

The real magic comes AFTER you have gone out and tried and used the material to get reactions and seen what an IOI looks like and you have a sense of which girls like you.

From my own experience, Improv Comedy helped with getting really solid banter lines and comebacks.

Bradon Enriquez (Dallas Improv Comedy) had a technique where you think of three great responses very quickly and then pick the best one. (He used it in the context of a scene but we can use it for banter).

That simple technique makes your brain speed up and seems to make you quicker on your feet.

So if someone says "Hey its New Years, where's your tuxedo?", you must think of three responses quickly.
"I left it at your mom's house."
"What is it about what I'm wearing now that turns you on?"
"My friend eats lemons and puts sweet and low on them."

Where was I.......
oh yes
...freestyle nights

Yeah so you kinda learn the basic ideas from running stock MM/RSD on what rules you need when doing banter.

I'm calling it banter because its really whatever you use in-the-moment. You don't do "Who lies more?". You just riff off of what's in the environment using only your own wit.

I would not say I am the king of banter, but I'm ok at it. My last few nights at the karaoke bar have been solid freestyle nights.
That and I could not remember any MM/RSD stuff that would even work well in that environment.

I truely believe that you don't need A2 material as long as you can banter and show you are in control of yourself and the situation.
Body language and feeling good and having a good time are equally important factors.

Those are just some thoughts I had while going out and doing Freestyle Nights.

See ya later

I hadn't heard of this before but it makes sense to me. Go without training wheels sometimes.

CJ mainly talked about freestyle nights. Sinn has mentioned it. Lovedrop said your game goes through cycles of times when its really structured to when its all freestyle.

CJ said he would have a few nights where he would go totally freestyle then go back to the solid, regimen of routine stacks and structure.

idk if you guys read my post on the blank mind approach in the lounge, but it is very similar to this. I really agree with this post. Being spontaneous and creative is a skill you can develop over time, but if you are structuring all of your material you will never be able to develop that skill, and will never be as good as you could be.
