Gifted and Talented

Hands up!

How many guys were in the Gifted and Talented program when you were in school?

Just as I thought. Close to 100%.

We've just started asking this question randomly at workshops and in meetings with local lairs, and it is shocking to see how many guys who spend serious time and effort learning about skills with women were, at some point in their lives, singled out from their childhood peers and identified as different than others because they were smarter.

In other words, cursed to forever carry the tag of Nerd. Geek. Brain. Dork.

Uncool.

The good thing is, as Val Kilmer said in Real Genius, when you're smart, people need you.

You are Gifted and Talented. Use your gifts for the good. Have fun. Make girls have fun. Make them feel good... and give them the feelings they've been waiting for.

And know, oh Gifted and Talented one... you are not alone. You are really not alone.

Heh. I was in the G&T program in elementry, as well as various honor societies in high school & college. I am now a member of Mensa.

I will say that almost all of the people in the community I've met are far above avg intelligence, so I think there's something to this.

I was part of the 10% that made the top 90% possible. ADD and all that. It drove my teachers nuts because I was "So smart and just not producing to my potential."

Same here. Why strive to reach our full potential when we could easily outpreform our classmates by oppertating at 50%?
